On March 28, Myanmar suffered a 7.7 magnitude earthquake that killed over 3,500 and injured another 5,000. Instead of aiding their citizens, the Myanmar government has used the tragedy as leverage against them. The government continues to use military conscription to force its citizens to fight those who rebel against their abuse. The United States, usually a reliant source of emergency aid, only offered a small amount of aid and three workers. China, Russia, and India are filling part of the gap.

The situation seems hopeless. Who will take care of their physical needs and provide the loving arms of hope? Christians are doing that. Though they cannot offer much food, water, and medical supplies, the team offers emotional support to the suffering. They comfort the physically afflicted with God’s word and teach spiritual mothers and fathers to disciple others. They are training church leaders to shepherd those who need Christ’s loving arms in this tragic time.

Let us pray fervently for:

  • The Lord to multiply the loaves and fishes for those who need physical sustenance (The Bible, John 6:1-14).
  • The Lord to encourage the people of Myanmar and Christian workers who want to see disciples making more disciples (The Bible, Ezekiel 44:23).
  • Pray their heartbreaks will create an insatiable spiritual hunger that only Jesus can satisfy (The Bible, Psalm 147:3).
