Ugandan and South Sudanese soldiers fought on July 28, 2025, along their common boundary in Uganda’s West Nile district, killing at least six people. The battle started after South Sudanese soldiers allegedly crossed the border into Uganda and pitched a camp in the Fitina Mbaya and Goboro villages. Ugandan troops tried to negotiate, but when they were shot at, they fought back, and casualties were incurred on both sides. The government of South Sudan reported that five of its troops were killed, and Uganda confirmed three deaths. The fighting displaced about 200 civilians. Both countries have committed to a ceasefire and launched an investigation into the attack. The Ugandan-South Sudan border has been a long-standing source of tension, with the two countries going through a joint demarcation committee with the hope of finalizing the solution by 2027.

Pray for peace and friendly relations between South Sudan and Uganda. Pray for the authorities of both countries to make concerted efforts to resolve the border disputes between them. (The Holy Bible, Zechariah 8:16).

Pray for the perpetrators behind the violence on the South Sudan-Uganda border to be brought to justice immediately. Pray for divine protection upon all the civilians living in the region (The Holy Bible, Psalm 9:9).
