SOMALIA: US President Donald Trump expressed his desire to keep Somali immigrants out of the US, telling reporters they should “go back to where they came from” and that “their country is no good for a reason.” His negative remarks came as reports surfaced about immigration officials planning an enforcement operation in Minnesota’s large Somali community. State officials criticized the plan, claiming it could wrongfully target American citizens who might look like they are from the East African country. Minneapolis and St. Paul, known together as the Twin Cities, have one of the biggest Somali populations in the world and the largest in the US.
- Heavenly Father, we lift up the Somali community and all immigrants who feel fear, rejection, or uncertainty. Surround them with Your protection, grant them peace in their hearts, and uphold their dignity as people created in Your image. Let no unjust action prevail against them, and let Your love be their refuge (The Holy Bible, Genesis 23:4).
- Lord, we pray for all leaders and decision-makers. Grant them wisdom, understanding, and compassion as they shape policies affecting immigrant communities. May their words and actions promote justice, healing, and unity rather than fear or division. Guide them to lead with integrity and fairness (The Holy Bible, Leviticus 19:33).
