In Brunei, the Dusuns are an ethnic minority mostly living in the Tutong District. They traditionally follow animist beliefs and worship a spirit god called Derato. Their main religious ritual is called Temarok, held after the rice harvest. Another important event is Adau Gayoh, celebrated on May 1st. Many Dusuns have now converted to Islam or Christianity, but they still take part in these cultural events. The Brunei government allows Dusuns to practise their traditions as long as they are done privately. In recent years, these festivals have become public and are even included in national celebrations. This shows growing respect for Dusun culture. The government sees its traditions as part of Brunei’s national heritage. Dusuns also show tolerance for Islam, as it is taught in schools and seen everywhere in daily life. Overall, the relationship between Brunei and the Dusuns is based on mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

Praise GOD for the friendly relations and peaceful coexistence of the Dusuns, an ethnic minority group, with the Muslims, the majority group in Brunei. Pray for Christians in Brunei, a religious minority group in the country, to have equal rights and freedoms (The Holy Bible, Psalm 40:17).

Almighty GOD, touch the lives and save the key leaders among the Dusuns who will boldly declare the Gospel, for nothing is impossible for You (The Holy Bible, Luke 1:37).
