DJIBOUTI: Qatar Charity (QC) has started building a solar-powered seawater desalination plant in Dalaf, located in the Obock region of Djibouti. This project is an important step towards sustainable development and will improve access to clean water for the local community. As the second desalination plant of its kind in Djibouti, it aims to provide safe drinking water for about 5,000 people. The construction is expected to be finished within a year and will cost around QR2 million.

The project will feature a 30 cubic meter capacity, public water taps, and basins for livestock, ensuring that both people and agricultural needs are taken care of. Officials praised the project as a significant improvement, stating that it will supply clean water using sustainable technology and enhance Djibouti’s collaboration with global humanitarian organizations.

  • Lord, we pray for the construction of the solar-powered desalination plant in Dalaf. May it be built swiftly and safely, ensuring that it meets the needs of the local community. We ask for your guidance and wisdom for all those involved in this project (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 16:3).
  • Lord, we lift up the people of Djibouti who will benefit from this desalination plant. May access to clean water transform their lives, promote health, and foster hope in their community. We also pray that this project paves the way for further sustainable initiatives in the region (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 29:11).
