PAKISTAN: Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal and Saudi Health Minister Fahad Al-Jalajel met in Riyadh to talk about ending polio in Pakistan. According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the Saudi team praised Pakistan’s efforts to fight polio and promised to keep working together in the future. The country has reported at least 30 cases of the poliovirus so far this year. In 2024, Pakistan had a total of at least 71 polio cases, with the virus found in about 90 districts. Polio is a highly contagious and untreatable disease that can lead to permanent paralysis. The best way to protect children is by giving them repeated doses of the oral polio vaccine during each campaign and ensuring they complete all necessary immunizations on time.

  • Lord, we pray that God will bring healing to the land of Pakistan and empower health workers with wisdom, protection, and success in their efforts to eliminate polio completely. Ask that every child will receive full immunization and that the spread of the virus will cease (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 30:17).
  • Pray that the partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, and other nations, will continue in unity and goodwill. Ask God to bless their collaboration so that compassion and mutual support lead to breakthroughs in public health and healing across nations (The Holy Bible, Ecclesiastes 4:9).
