NEPAL: On Wednesday, young people from Gen Z faced off with CPN-UML party members in western Nepal while protesting against a politburo member from the party of former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli. The youth were demonstrating against Mahesh Basnet, who had come to Dhangadhi in Kailali district to take part in an event organized by the youth wing of CPN-UML. Since the beginning of Gen Z protests a month ago, Nepal has been struggling to make democratic changes. Several Gen Z demonstrators were hurt during the altercation with the Communist Party of Nepal, according to police reports. Young people have stepped up their protests against the Oli-led CPN-UML nationwide, blaming the former prime minister for the deaths of at least 22 individuals during the protests on September 8.
- Pray that God will comfort those injured, protect the young protesters from further harm, and bring healing—physically, emotionally, and nationally—to all who have suffered during these tensions (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 4:10).
- Ask God to guide Nepal’s leaders, political parties, and community figures to act with justice, humility, and a commitment to peace. Pray that true democratic reforms take root and that all leaders work for the good of the people, not for personal or political gain (The Holy Bible, Psalm 16:8).
