MYANMAR: Myanmar’s military government has taken into custody at least 88 individuals for speaking out against its upcoming election, which is governed by a strict new Election Protection Law that was put in place just three months ago. This law, passed on July 29, is leading to an increasing crackdown as the military prepares for a vote that many view as a fake attempt to justify its control. The Election Protection Law enforces severe punishments for anyone who criticizes or complains about the election, with penalties ranging from three years in prison to the death penalty.

  • Pray that God will protect those who are unjustly detained for speaking the truth in Myanmar. Ask the Lord to give them courage, peace, and strength in the face of oppression. May truth and justice prevail over fear, and may God expose and overturn every plan of deceit and control (The Holy Bible, Psalm 103:6).
  • Pray that God will raise up righteous leaders in Myanmar who will rule with integrity and compassion. Ask that the hearts of those in power be softened to seek truth, justice, and peace for the nation, and that the upcoming election will not be used to oppress but to bring freedom and restoration (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 29:2).
