Country Information
Azerbaijan is a Central Asian country in the 10/40 Window region. Its culture reflects a rich tapestry of music, carpet weaving, literature, and Islamic traditions. However, the nation also preserves ancient Christian heritage, particularly from the Caucasian Albanian Church.
Christianity arrived centuries ago, with early missionaries and clerics establishing churches and spreading the Gospel. Later European missionaries reinforced Christian education and worship. Today, Christian teenagers in Azerbaijan face struggles due to the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations (SCWRA), restrictive legal frameworks, and unwritten social pressures, which limit religious expression and access to proper discipleship. The Church is under threat from government monitoring, societal pressure to conform to majority Islamic traditions, and the weakening of Christian family structures.
