Indonesia has a big problem with the education system. Almost all children attend school, but many still struggle to read or perform basic math operations effectively. One reason is that many teachers are not well-trained. More than 80% of teachers failed a national skills test, and their salaries are very low. In the past, the government hired many teachers, but some were not qualified. Also, the school curriculum changed often, which made things confusing. Now, Indonesia is using a new system called the Merdeka curriculum. It helps students learn better and gives support to teachers through an app. This app has reached 80% of teachers and made them more active and interested in teaching. However, the country still faces big challenges. Teacher quality needs to improve, and students must truly understand what they are learning, not just memorize facts. Indonesia must also fix the gap between schools in cities and rural areas.
Pray for an improvement in the quality of education in Indonesia. Pray for the Indonesian government to implement more effective measures to tackle the challenges in the country’s education system (The Holy Bible, Psalm 108:12).
Pray for an unhindered and quality education for all children, both in rural and urban areas, in Indonesia. Pray for improved teacher quality in the nation. Pray for wisdom for the Indonesian students to truly understand what they are learning (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 2:6).
