SENEGAL: On October 31, the Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR) will organize a peaceful march to protest against “the excesses of the current government.” This event aims to criticize the government’s policies, which many believe are authoritarian and harmful to the nation. The current administration has introduced measures that endanger basic freedoms and democratic rights. The FDR will call for the release of political prisoners, an end to the repression of opponents and journalists, and actions to improve living conditions for people in Senegal. They also want to address issues like double standards, corruption, and poor economic management. Reflecting this view, FDR coordinator Samba Sy criticized Ousmane Sonko’s recent comments: “Ousmane Sonko should focus on the real issues facing the Senegalese people instead of making inappropriate remarks.” Additionally, the FDR is seeking accountability for how the 8 billion francs supposedly given by the state to help victims in Bakel were used.
- Lord, we pray for peace and justice in Senegal as the people gather for the march on October 31. We pray for peaceful actions and the recognition of their voices. We ask that you bring clarity to the issues they are protesting. May the leadership in Senegal be guided by wisdom, integrity, and a heart for the people they serve (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).
- Lord, We pray that there may be a transformation in leadership that prioritizes the well-being of all citizens. Father, may the country experience true revival and restoration, guided by Your justice and mercy (The Holy Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14).
