Where there is a free press, the world will still be able to hear the truth about the welfare or lack of it in China. China will periodically renew its “crackdown” on Christians in the country to let its people know that there is still no freedom to worship as one pleases. There is a “recognized” Christian church which is tightly registered and monitored by the government, but sooner or later any independent “free and unmonitored” churches will be persecuted and stifled.
The most recent example of this happened in Beihei in the country’s Guangxi region. Pastor Ezra Jin, pastor of Zion Church, an underground house church”, with churches across China was arrested with his staff and members on Friday. More than 30 pastors and church staff were arrested, including one female pastor who was separated from her newborn baby. Sean Long, a pastor and spokesperson for the church pleaded to the global church society to hold the government responsible.
The Chinese government regards Christianity and Islam as “foreign” and rejects and fears their influence. Zion Church was founded in 2007 and has grown very rapidly with services reaching 5,000 to 10,000 each week. Long said, “We will have online service and we will not stop what we are doing. We will share the good news of Jesus Christ no matter what.”
Let us pray for:
` Christian Believers in China to be able to practice their religion freely without government intervention or supervision (The Bible, John 8:36).
Christian Believers in China to conduct themselves in such a manner that others will be able to recognize that they are different and must be Christ followers (The Bible, Matthew 5:16).
God’s divine protection for Christian Believers in China (The Bible, Psalm 91).
