CHINA: Tensions between China and the Philippines have risen again in the South China Sea after their ships collided near the disputed Thitu Island. Both countries have shared different stories about what happened and accused each other of wrongdoing and provocation. Over the past year, tensions have increased steadily, with many maritime clashes that include collisions, the use of water cannons, and reports of dangerous movements. China claims almost all of the South China Sea and does not accept a 2016 international tribunal decision that rejected its broad claims.

  • Lord, we pray for peace between China and the Philippines as tensions rise over territorial disputes. We ask for wisdom and understanding among leaders to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts. May they engage in constructive dialogue that leads to cooperation and harmony (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 2:4).
  • Lord, we pray for those affected by the maritime tensions in the South China Sea. We pray for the safety of all fishermen and vessels in the region. Protect them from harm and promote safety on the waters, guiding all parties toward restraint and respect for one another’s sovereignty (The Holy Bible, Psalm 121:7).
