Western Sahara: Raúl Conde, a member of the NGO Cantabria for Western Sahara, remarked that Morocco’s refusal to allow foreign journalists and human rights observers into the occupied portion of Western Sahara clearly demonstrates its indifference to human rights in the area. Moroccan authorities prevented Conde and two journalists from accessing the occupied city of El Aaiún while they were on a mission to document the situation there. This incident raises the total number of international observers denied entry to the territory since 2014 to 330. The Spanish activist noted that preventing foreign observers from entering the occupied territory reveals Morocco’s false claims about the existence of freedom in Western Sahara. This blockade is intended to conceal the extensive repression that Sahrawis endure in their own land.

  • Lord, we pray for the people of Western Sahara, that they may experience justice and freedom in their homeland. May God open doors for international observers and journalists to witness and report the truth of their situation (The Holy Bible, Psalm 12:5).
  • Lord, we pray that the global community becomes more aware of the struggles faced by the Sahrawi people and that advocacy for their rights intensifies. May God raise up voices to speak out against injustices and bring about positive change (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:8).
