INDONESIA: Twenty out of the 22 factories that were previously found to have radioactive Cesium-137 (Cs-137) in the Cikande Modern Industrial Estate, located in Serang District, Banten, have now been officially cleared of contamination. The Cs-137 Radionuclide Radiation Management Task Force is ensuring that the cleanup process is going smoothly. The government is also working to inform workers and residents about safety through outreach activities in the industrial area, using the Ministry of Health’s official channels, and by putting up information boards in key spots. Our main focus is on the safety and health of both workers and residents. Investigations are still underway to find out if metal scrap is contaminated before it reaches the PT PMT factory facility.

  • Lord, we pray for the continued safety and health of the workers and residents in the Cikande Modern Industrial Estate. May your peace and protection surround them as they recover from the contamination of Cs-137. We ask for wisdom for the cleanup teams and the authorities involved in ensuring a safe environment (The Holy Bible, Psalm 4:8).
  • Lord, we lift up the ongoing investigations into the potential contamination of metal scrap. We pray for clarity and precision in the efforts to identify and address any risks before they reach the factory facility. Guide the hands and minds of those working on this critical task (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 31:6).
