MALI: A well-equipped jihadist group linked to al Qaeda is advancing towards Bamako, the capital of Mali. The country’s military government and their Russian allies are finding it hard to fight back against the jihadis, who now control many areas of the vast Sahel region. Fuel supplies in Bamako are dwindling as militants from a group known as Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam al-Muslimin (JNIM) block roads leading to the city, attack military patrols, and ambush fuel trucks. As conditions worsen, countries like the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany have advised their citizens to leave Bamako. The Counter Extremism Project (CEP), which studies terrorist organizations, reports that the militants have taken significant amounts of weapons from government forces and shown they can operate drones.
- Lord, we pray that God will shield the people of Mali, especially those in Bamako, from violence and destruction. Ask the Lord to frustrate the plans of the jihadist forces, confuse their strategies, and bring peace to the nation through His mighty power (The Holy Bible, Exodus 14:14).
 - Lord, we pray that Mali’s government and their allies will receive divine guidance, unity, and strength to stand firm against terrorism. Ask God to raise righteous leadership that will bring stability, justice, and lasting peace (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 29:2).
