At least 24 people lost their lives after a passenger bus plunged into the Padma River in Bangladesh’s Rajbari district while attempting to board a ferry at the Dauladia terminal on March 25, 2026. The Dhaka-bound bus, carrying around 40 passengers—many returning after Eid holidays—fell into the river after the driver lost control when a smaller ferry struck the pontoon. Rescue teams recovered most bodies from inside the submerged bus after hours of effort in difficult conditions, while several passengers remain missing. Authorities have launched a search operation and ordered an investigation into the accident.
Abba Father, comfort the families who are mourning their loved ones. Surround them with Your peace and strength in this time of deep sorrow. Lord, we pray for those still missing may they be found, and may hope remain. Strengthen and protect the rescue teams working tirelessly. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 34:18).
Father, grant wisdom to authorities and leaders to prevent such tragedies in the future. Guide them to make safe and just decisions. Amen (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 3:5–6).
