Rescuers in Indonesia are searching for 11 people who went missing after a boat capsized near the Mentawai Islands in West Sumatra province. The boat had 18 people on board, including 10 local government officials. It left Sikakap, a small town, and was heading to Tuapejat when it overturned on 14th July’2025 in the morning. So far, seven people have been rescued. Rescuers are still searching to find the missing passengers and bring them to safety. The exact cause of the accident is unknown, but bad weather and weak safety rules often cause boat accidents in Indonesia’s many islands. Recently, a ferry sank near Bali, killing at least 18 people. In March, another boat accident off Bali killed an Australian woman and injured others. In 2018, over 150 people drowned when a ferry sank in a volcanic lake on Sumatra Island.
Pray for the lawmakers in Indonesia to implement strong regulations to stop the frequent boat accidents in the country. Pray for the government to conduct awareness campaigns to educate people about safety measures while traveling by boat (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 11:14).
Pray for divine protection upon the people of Indonesia from such accidents. Pray for the LORD’s comfort for the families of all the deceased victims. (The Holy Bible, Psalm 46:1).
