Brunei’s young people are vital to shaping the country’s future, and recent events like the Temburong Information Programme show they are stepping up, learning about fake news, cybercrime, AI ethics, cultural values, and youth policy. However, they also face serious challenges today. Even though many are well-educated, youth unemployment and underemployment are persistent problems. Reports show youth jobless rates remain high, with many trapped in temporary roles or struggling to find meaningful work that matches their skills. There are also concerns about exploitation in training programs designed to bridge the gap between education and employment. Another rising concern is mental health. Though not always openly discussed, many young people suffer from anxiety and depression, particularly following the pandemic, and calls have increased to address stigma and improve support services. On the positive side, youth are active online, engaging in digital civic life, climate, and social debates. But policymakers still need to recognize and support these efforts formally.

Pray for the success of the training programs to bridge the gap between education and employment. Pray for the authorities to take necessary action to decrease the youth unemployment and underemployment crisis in Brunei (The Holy Bible, Psalm 40:17).

Pray for the Bruneian youth to have access to more employment opportunities and growth. Pray for the LORD to bless them with hope and a bright future (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 29:11).
