West Bank: Israeli bulldozers are advancing, posing a threat to the destruction of twelve Palestinian villages in the Masafer Yatta region, situated in the hills south of Hebron. This area is classified as “Area C” of the occupied Palestinian territories according to the Oslo Accords. Meanwhile, the current shift in international focus towards the conflict between Israel and Iran seems to be facilitating a decisive action: the demolition of homes that house approximately 2,800 Palestinians. The legal struggle over Masafer Yatta has lasted for decades, with repeated appeals from residents failing to provide lasting protection. This recent decision seems to signal the end of their efforts. Palestinian families have long contended that the military designation is merely a pretext for expanding Jewish settlements rather than addressing real defense needs. Although military exercises in the area have been rare, at least a dozen new outposts have been established, often with the support of Israeli soldiers.
- Lord, we pray for God’s intervention to protect the families in the Masafer Yatta region from demolition and displacement. Pray for peace in the land and for the safety of those who are facing the threat of losing their homes (The Holy Bible, Psalm 91:1-2).
- Lord, we pray for justice for the Palestinian residents and for a fair resolution to their plight. Ask for open hearts and minds to promote reconciliation and understanding among all parties involved (The Holy Bible, Micah 6:8).
