WEST BANK: For three decades, Mohammad Abu Zahra, a Palestinian from the southern West Bank, was employed in construction in Israel. This job offered a relatively good salary, significantly higher than what similar work would pay in the West Bank. Over 21 months into the conflict, the number of work permits has not recovered. Most notably, Israel has prohibited Palestinian workers from participating in the construction industry, which is by far their largest employment sector in Israel. For the majority of Palestinians in the West Bank, who seek employment but have no ties to terrorism, the reduction in permits has become a continuous punishment for a war they did not initiate and are not part of.
- Lord, we pray that God would provide opportunities for meaningful employment for Palestinians in the West Bank, especially those affected by the reduction in work permits. Ask for compassion and wisdom among leaders to create pathways for peaceful cooperation and economic stability (The Holy Bible, Philippians 4:19).
- Lord, we pray for an end to the conflict, that hearts may be softened and understanding fostered between all parties involved. Ask for a spirit of reconciliation and justice to prevail, bringing peace to the region and alleviating the suffering of innocent people caught in the turmoil (The Holy Bible, Acts 3:19).
