Mali: The Wagner Group has declared its withdrawal from Mali, stating that it has completed its primary mission in the West African nation. The Russian mercenary organization has been active in Mali since 2021, collaborating with the military to combat Islamist militants. Wagner claimed it has “fought terrorism alongside the people of Mali,” resulting in the deaths of “thousands of militants and their leaders who had terrorized civilians for years.” This announcement of withdrawal coincides with reports of Malian soldiers vacating a significant base in the central region of the country, following a second deadly attack in under a week.

  • Lord, we pray that You will bring lasting peace to Mali as the Wagner Group withdraws. Pray for the safety of civilians and for the Malian military to be strengthened as they continue to combat terrorism and restore security in the region (The Holy Bible, Psalm 29:11).
  • Lord, we pray for the healing of communities affected by violence and instability in Mali. Pray that God will restore hope and rebuild lives, guiding the people toward reconciliation and a better future (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
