Vietnam celebrated 80 years since its declaration of independence from France with a large military parade in Hanoi. Around 16,000 soldiers, along with troops from China, Russia, Laos, and Cambodia, took part in the event at Ba Dinh Square, where Ho Chi Minh first declared independence on September 2, 1945. Military equipment like missiles and fighter jets was on display. Communist Party leader To Lam gave a speech honoring past sacrifices and reaffirming Vietnam’s goal to become a strong, happy, and modern nation by 2045. Many citizens, like 19-year-old student Vu Thi Trang, expressed pride and gratitude for the country’s freedom. As part of the celebrations, the government gave 100,000 dong (about $3.80) to each citizen and announced the early release of nearly 14,000 prisoners. Vietnam gained full independence after defeating France in 1954, later unifying the country in 1975 after winning the Vietnam War against the US-backed South.
Praise GOD for the 80th Independence Day of Vietnam. Pray for the LORD’s blessing upon the land and people of the country. (The Holy Bible, Numbers 6:24-26).
Pray for the Holy Spirit to open the hearts and minds of the people of Vietnam to be receptive to the Gospel. Pray for them to experience real freedom in Christ Jesus, the Savior (The Holy Bible, John 8:36).
