Many migrant workers in Saudi Arabia are dying in preventable workplace accidents, such as falls, electrocution, and heat-related incidents, especially with the growing construction for the 2034 FIFA World Cup and other large projects. Authorities have been criticized for failing to protect workers, investigate deaths properly, or ensure fair and timely compensation to families. In many cases, families receive little information about the cause of death, face pressure to bury relatives in Saudi Arabia and struggle to recover belongings or unpaid wages. Safety laws exist, but enforcement remains weak, and many deaths are wrongly labeled as “natural,” avoiding accountability. FIFA awarded the World Cup to Saudi Arabia without strong worker protection guarantees, raising concerns that past mistakes, like those seen during the 2022 Qatar World Cup, could be repeated. There are growing calls for all migrant worker deaths to be fully investigated, for proper compensation to be ensured, and for stronger safety measures to be enforced across all projects.

Pray for the Saudi Arabian government to adhere to international human rights laws and uphold the rights of migrant workers within the country. Pray for the full enforcement of stronger safety measures to protect migrant workers in Saudi Arabia (The Holy Bible, Psalm 82:3).

Pray for a fair and transparent investigation into all the migrant worker deaths in Saudi Arabia. Pray for the Saudi Arabian government to ensure proper compensation for the families of the deceased victims (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).
