In 2025, child labor in Türkiye is still a major concern, with economic necessity and systemic shortages being drivers of the issue. The Türkiye Statistical Institute (TurkStat) documented that the children’s labor force participation rate of 15–17-year-olds rose to 24.9% in 2024 compared to 22.1% in the year before, showing an increasing trend in child labor. Health and Safety Labor Watch (İSİG) reported at least 770 child fatalities in workplace accidents in Türkiye between 2013, where they emphasized dangerous conditions experienced by child workers. Sectors that experience the most child labor deaths are agriculture, construction, and small-scale industry. To address this, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security is poised to roll out in 2025 a Child Labor Risk Monitoring and Tracking System to better track and deal with child labor risks. Even with these moves, problems remain, and advocacy groups are still pushing for more effective enforcement of labor laws and improved social protections for at-risk families.
Pray for the children in Türkiye to have access to healthy food, clean drinking water, education, and other basic needs and rights. Pray for an improved economy in all the Türkish families (The Holy Bible, Psalm 72:12).
Pray for the authorities in Türkiye to take immediate action against the child labor system in the nation. Pray for the implementation of more stringent measures by the Türkish government to end the practice in the country (The Holy Bible, Matthew 25:40).
