A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit north-west Türkiye’s Balikesir province on 10th August’2025. The quake’s epicenter was the town of Sindirgi. Sadly, an 81-year-old woman died after being rescued from the rubble. Sixteen buildings collapsed, and 29 people were injured. The tremors were felt as far away as Istanbul. Türkiye’s president expressed his concern and said recovery efforts are ongoing. Search and rescue teams have finished their work, and no more serious damage or deaths were reported. Türkiye sits on three major tectonic plates, causing frequent earthquakes. In February 2023, a much stronger 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck south-eastern Türkiye, killing over 50,000 people and displacing many. Neighboring Syria also suffered heavy losses. Even after two years, hundreds of thousands remain displaced from that disaster.

Father GOD, we ask for Your divine protection over all the lives from the frequent earthquakes in Türkiye. LORD, comfort those who have lost their loved ones and heal those who are injured (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).

Almighty GOD, heal the nation Türkiye. Grant wisdom for the authorities to implement more precautionary measures to avoid such incidents in the future (The Holy Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14).
