Thailand has changed its cannabis policy, now allowing cannabis use only for medical purposes. As of June 2025, buyers must show a doctor’s prescription to get cannabis, and licensed shops must follow strict rules. These include keeping sales records, undergoing inspections, and not advertising or selling online. The public health minister said the goal is to stop recreational use and social problems, especially among youth. This move comes after a boom in cannabis businesses following decriminalization in 2022. While some say the change helps protect society, others argue it harms small businesses and farmers who depend on cannabis sales. Activists believe poor law enforcement and unclear rules caused the problems, not the plant itself. Critics also fear the new rules could raise corruption and limit fair access. Despite the stricter policy, some say it’s only the first step, and full recriminalization may follow later, depending on future government decisions.

Pray for the authorities of Thailand to come up with clear laws and regulations to control the misuse of cannabis plants. Pray for the effective enforcement of the laws to combat illegal cannabis trade and its misuse (The Holy Bible, Psalm 40:13).

Pray for deliverance for the people, especially youth, in Thailand, who use cannabis for recreational purposes. Pray that, like the arrows in the hands of a warrior, the young people in the nation, in the Hands of the Almighty GOD, are doing HIS Purpose (The Holy Bible, Psalm 127:4).
