Tajikistan will be saving $4–6 million annually by implementing a new system based on satellites to track droughts and better manage water. The project began in Uzbekistan in 2025 and will arrive in Tajikistan in 2027. Agriculture is of significant importance in Tajikistan; agriculture constitutes 22% of the country’s economy, and most individuals rely on farming to make a living. But climate change is complicating farming. Temperatures have increased and rainfall has decreased by 15–20% over the past 30 years. An estimated 1.5 million people inhabit regions affected by drought. The nation’s mountains and restricted water exacerbate the problem. Local changes are poorly monitored by conventional weather stations. Satellite data will be utilized by the new system to enable farmers to plan more effectively and conserve water. In addition, it will train 150 professionals and interface with international systems. While there are some difficulties, such as poor internet and few trained employees, the project will enhance food security and assist in poverty and migration reduction.
Abba Father, we pray and seek Your face for mercy and healing. LORD, forgive the sins of the people of Tajikistan and heal their land. Bless the people and their land to be restored, in the Mighty Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen (The Holy Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14).
Pray for wise counsel for the authorities to tackle the drought and water scarcity in Tajikistan. Pray for divine provision for all the families, especially farmers. Pray for improved agricultural practices, food security, and economic stability in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 118:25).
