Syria has officially shipped its first crude oil export in 14 years, marking a major milestone in its post-war economic revival. 600,000 barrels of heavy crude were loaded from the port city of Tartus on September 1, 2025, to trading company B Serve Energy on the Nissos Christiana tanker. This growth comes after the civil war ended and the U.S. sanctions were lifted in June 2025, which had previously held back the oil trade. The new transitional government has been making efforts to restore the economy, such as signing an $800 million deal with DP World to manage the Tartus terminal. The majority of oil fields are found in the northeast, which is under Kurdish-led administration, and have been impacted little by cooperation due to political tensions. The shipment represents a tentative but optimistic move towards reviving Syria’s oil sector and overall economic stability.
Praise the LORD for the first step towards economic recovery in Syria after 14 long years. Pray for the success of all the efforts of the new transitional government to improve the lives and livelihoods of the people in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 118:25).
Pray for the LORD to raise more people of one accord to rebuild the nation of Syria. Pray for the LORD to bless the process of restoration of the country (The Holy Bible, Nehemiah 5:12).
