There is serious concern about the rising violence in Syria’s Sweida region since July. Fighting began between local groups and the involved government forces. The conflict caused many killings, looting, and forced about 192,000 people to leave their homes. Attacks on civilians were strongly condemned, and a ceasefire was called for to protect people. All parties were reminded to follow human rights and international laws, especially to protect medical and aid workers. Safe and quick access to help those in need was urged. Authorities were called on to protect everyone, no matter their background, and to investigate the violence fairly. Support was expressed for Syria’s unity, with warnings against actions that could make the conflict worse. Fighting terrorism was highlighted, along with the need for a peaceful political process led by Syrians to decide their future.
Pray for the end of the conflict and violence in the Sweida region in Syria. Pray for divine protection upon all the people, as well as aid workers, facing violence and uncertainty (The Holy Bible, Psalm 72:14).
Pray for the warring parties to abide by the international human rights laws and to quit violence. Pray for peace and justice to prevail in the Sweida region in Syria (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).
