A Sudanese faction headed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has established a new administration to oppose the military-dominated powers in Khartoum. The group, which is known as the Leadership Council of the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS), appointed RSF head Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo as president of a presidential council and Mohammed Hassan Osman al-Ta’ishi as prime minister. This action would deepen Sudan’s divisions as the RSF continues to battle the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The war, which began in April 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced close to 13 million individuals, causing a substantial humanitarian crisis. The fighting is particularly dire in Darfur, with accounts of severe human rights violations by both parties. Sudan’s instability started after long-time ruler Omar al-Bashir was ousted in 2019, followed by a military coup in 2021. Power clashes between military commanders al-Burhan and Hemedti ever since have driven cycles of violence, with peace negotiations failing.
Pray against all the moves of the warring parties that undermine the peace negotiations in Sudan. Pray for the stability of the nation. (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 11:14).
Pray for the end of the deadly conflict between SAF and RSF in Sudan. Pray for the LORD to restore peace, protection, and justice to all the innocent Sudanese civilians (The Holy Bible, Psalm 80:3).
