An icddr,b study on female garment workers in Bangladesh revealed serious concerns about their reproductive health and exposure to violence. Conducted from 2022–2024 among 778 workers aged 15–27 in Dhaka and Gazipur slums, the study found that two in three women were married before 18, and 65% had their first pregnancy before 18. One-third faced unintended pregnancies, and one in four had an abortion. Despite improved awareness of family planning methods and gender equality, violence against female workers—both at home and in the workplace remained high, with most victims not seeking formal help. The study urges the government and development partners to take collective action to improve the health, safety, and dignity of these women.

Abba Father, we ask You to protect the women working in garment factories, guarding them against violence and injustice. Lord, may leaders and organizations rise to ensure fair treatment, equality, and dignity for all women. In Jesus name. Amen (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).

Heavenly Father, bring healing to women who suffered early marriages, unintended pregnancies, and workplace abuse. Fill them with hope for a better future. Amen(The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
