Days of heavy rain and Storm Wipha have caused flash floods and rising rivers in many provinces of Laos, including Luang Prabang, Huaphan, Xiengkhouang, Xayabouly, Khammuan, and Vientiane. In Luang Prabang, Xiengngeun, Nan, and Pakxaeng districts are badly hit. Eighteen villages in Xiengngeun are flooded, and emergency teams are assisting people in relocating to safe areas. Rivers in Nan have overflowed, damaging homes and farmland. In Pakxaeng, floodwater has reached homes and swept away some animals. In Huaphan, rivers in the Kuan district burst their banks. In Xayabouly, villages in Hongsa and Ngeun districts are flooded. The water is now starting to go down. In Xiengkhouang, roads are flooded. In Vientiane, the Xong River is rising and may flood more areas if the rain continues. People are warned to stay alert, avoid danger zones, and follow weather updates from officials.
Pray for divine protection and provision for all the flood victims in Laos. Pray for them to have immediate access to food, shelter, and other basic needs (The Holy Bible, Lamentations 3:56).
Pray for the Lao government to take immediate action to improve the infrastructure and water management in the country. Pray for the authorities to implement more effective measures to safeguard the safety of the citizens during deadly calamities (The Holy Bible, Psalm 33:20).
