Senegal: Although life has been harsh for Marie, it has not diminished her courage and determination.

Marie had to leave everything behind and escape from Cameroon with her husband to the neighboring Central African Republic (CAR) due to the violent armed conflict that erupted in northern Cameroon. Despite the upheaval she experienced, she continued to pursue her interest in mechanics while in CAR.
During her time in CAR, she worked at a local auto garage for about three years, gaining valuable hands-on experience before relocating to Senegal after the tragic loss of her husband and a personal assault.
Starting anew in Senegal was challenging, especially without academic certificates to validate her skills and competencies. However, she found an opportunity at Eminence Motors Guarantee (EMG), a well-established motor vehicle company in Dakar that has been operating for over thirty years. Marie is currently training in the maintenance department, where attention to detail is essential for customer satisfaction. One of the key benefits she has gained from this experience is self-sufficiency. Even as an intern, she manages to support herself with a salary of over $100 a month, which covers her daily needs. She looks forward to a brighter future, especially if more training and financial support opportunities become available for aspiring entrepreneurs.

  • Lord, we pray for Marie and others who have faced adversity and loss. Grant them the strength to overcome challenges and the resilience to continue pursuing their dreams. May they find hope and encouragement in their journey (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 40:31).
  • Lord, we pray for Marie as she seeks opportunities for further training and support. Open doors for her and others like her to gain the skills and resources needed to thrive as entrepreneurs. May they find favor and provision in their endeavors (The Holy Bible, Philippians 4:19).
