Western Sahara: The media group “Equipe Media” has condemned the ongoing detention of Sahrawi journalist Bashir Khadda by Moroccan authorities, describing the conditions as “degrading and inhumane.” They are urging immediate action to address the violations faced by Sahrawi journalists in Moroccan prisons. The team highlighted that at least six other Sahrawi journalists are also imprisoned following unfair trials, suffering from discriminatory treatment, physical and psychological torture, and systematic medical neglect—all for fulfilling their duty to report on violations in the occupied territories. Equipe Media has called on the United Nations and other international organizations focused on press freedom and human rights to intervene and put an end to these serious violations. They are demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Bashir Khadda and all detained Sahrawi journalists, as well as independent investigations into their conditions of detention, insisting on accountability for the Moroccan authorities for abuses that could be classified as crimes against humanity.

  • Lord, we pray for the immediate and unconditional release of journalist Bashir Khadda and all detained Sahrawi journalists. Ask for justice to be served, and that those responsible for their unjust imprisonment will be held accountable (The Holy Bible, Psalm 103:6).
  • Lord, we pray for the protection, healing, and well-being of Sahrawi journalists enduring degrading and inhumane conditions in detention. May they experience peace and strength during their trials, and may their voices continue to promote truth and justice (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
