WESTERN SAHARA: The program gives Sahrawi kids the chance to spend their summer in Asturias with local families. This offers them a break from the tough conditions they face in the Sahrawi refugee camps. They get to enjoy a milder climate than what they experience in the camps, where temperatures can get very hot. Living with Asturian families helps them feel part of a family and learn about a new culture. This event is part of a yearly tradition where Asturias welcomes Sahrawi children for the summer.
- Lord, we pray that the Sahrawi children experience love and acceptance during their time in Asturias. May they find joy in new friendships and the warmth of family life, which may help ease the struggles they face in the refugee camps (The Holy Bible, Matthew 25:31).
- Lord, we pray for the Asturian families hosting the children, that they may be blessed with patience, understanding, and the ability to create a nurturing environment that fosters cultural exchange and mutual learning (The Holy Bible, Matthew 18:5).
