Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have launched a strong attack on El-Fasher, the last major city in Darfur still controlled by the Sudanese army. The RSF shelling killed at least seven people and wounded 71 others. They are trying to take full control of the city by attacking neighborhoods, the airport, hospitals, and a displacement camp. The RSF has trapped the army in a small part of the city and damaged the water supply. About 300,000 people in El-Fasher suffer from food and water shortages, with many children severely malnourished. People are desperate; some are eating animal feed or trying to escape into the dangerous desert. The RSF, once known as the Janjaweed militias, has a history of ethnic violence and genocide in Darfur, killing hundreds of thousands. Experts warn that if the RSF takes El-Fasher, more ethnic killings may happen.

We declare that the LORD is the strength of the lives of the people in El-Fasher city in Sudan. Though an army encamps against them, and when the wicked come against them to eat up their flesh, they fear no evil. Because their enemies and foes stumble and fall, in the Mighty Name of our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. (The Holy Bible, Psalm 27:1-3).

Pray for the wise counsel and help of the international authorities to stop the violence and to end the war between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Pray for peace and justice to prevail in the country. (The Holy Bible, Psalm 22:11).
