GAZA STRIP: Palestinians are leaving areas of Gaza City now that the Israeli military has started the first phase of a planned ground attack. Israeli soldiers have set up positions on the edges of the city, where over a million Palestinians live, following several days of heavy bombing and shelling. Israel aims to show that it is moving forward with its plan to take control of all of Gaza City, even though there is criticism from around the world.
