Nepal: Three weeks ago, Dil Bhushan Pathak reported on the alleged investments of a member of a political family. On June 11, Kathmandu’s district court issued an arrest warrant for him after the family filed a complaint with the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police. Pathak is being pursued under Nepal’s Electronic Transactions Act, a law intended to regulate online transactions but has previously been used to detain individuals for online speech. On the same day the arrest warrant was issued, the district court also ordered two news websites to remove articles related to the Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal using the same law. The Nepal Police should revoke the arrest warrant against Dil Bhushan Pathak, and the government should cease its efforts to silence journalists and other citizens of Nepal.

  • Lord, we pray for justice in the case of Dil Bhushan Pathak. May the arrest warrant against him be revoked, and may the truth prevail. We ask for Your protection over journalists and their right to free speech in Nepal. In Jesus’ name, we pray for a culture of transparency and accountability (The Holy Bible, Matthew 5:10).
  • Lord, we pray for all journalists in Nepal, including Dil Bhushan Pathak. Grant them courage, protection, and wisdom as they report the truth. May their work contribute to justice and the common good, and may they feel Your presence and guidance as they navigate challenges (The Holy Bible, John 8:32).
