Lebanon is on the brink of a profound crisis following decades of political incompetence, economic meltdown, and the recent war with Israel. Lebanese youth are without hope as jobs disappear, houses are leveled, and even the most essential commodities such as food, water, and electricity are beyond their reach. According to a UN report, more than a million people were displaced, half a million students lost schooling, and child hunger is on the increase. Scores of young Lebanese are emigrating because they have no hope of a future at home. Experts believe the government needs to move quickly to enhance services, get more investment, and reconnect with the diaspora. A shaky ceasefire with Israel has not yielded peace, and Hezbollah is not willing to disarm, which makes things worse. International assistance may be beneficial, but reforms are slow, and levels of trust are low. Without actual change, Lebanon stands to lose its next generation forever. As one analyst stated, “Lebanon is nothing without the Lebanese.” The nation needs to act now before it’s too late.
Almighty GOD, You are the GOD of Restoration. We plead Your divine intervention in the desolate land of Lebanon. Breathe Your Life once again into this land and rebuild the lives and livelihoods of all the Lebanese people, especially the youth population (The Holy Bible, Joel 2:25).
Pray for the Lebanese authorities to implement effective measures to provide proper education and employment opportunities for the young population in the country. Pray for the LORD to bless the young people in Lebanon with hope and a bright future (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 29:11).
