Lebanon’s government is planning to disarm Hezbollah by the end of 2025, hoping to put all weapons under state control. The move comes under pressure from the U.S. following last year’s deadly war with Israel, which claimed more than 4,000 lives. Hezbollah militantly resists the plan, describing it as serving Israel’s interests and undermining Lebanon’s resistance. But Hezbollah has not reacted with violence, perhaps because of its losses in the war. Iran has Hezbollah’s backing but claims it will not intervene in its choices. Iranian remarks are dismissed by Lebanese authorities as interference. The government’s choice may lead to political strife since Hezbollah continues to be strong and supported by most in Lebanon. Rising tensions followed after six Lebanese soldiers were killed while inspecting a suspected Hezbollah weapons facility. Israeli attacks occur daily in southern Lebanon, evoking fear and frustration among its citizens, who feel the government is not safeguarding them sufficiently. The situation is still strained as Lebanon holds together internal differences and foreign pressures regarding Hezbollah’s weapons.

Pray for wise counsel and oneness of mind for all the Lebanese people and authorities to disarm Hezbollah and to bring stability and peace to the country. (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 24:6).

Pray for divine protection upon all the people in Southern Lebanon from violence. Pray for the end of extremism, which is dominating in Lebanon. Pray for peace and justice to prevail in the nation (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 14:32).
