Israel has launched airstrikes on Syria for a third day, targeting the defence ministry in Damascus and forces in Suweida province, where deadly fighting between Druze militias and Bedouin tribes has killed over 350 people since 13th July’2025. Israel says it is acting to protect the Druze, a minority group with strong ties to Israel. Syria accuses Israel of escalating violence and violating international law. The U.S. says it helped broker steps to end the crisis, leading to Syrian troop withdrawals from Suweida. Fighting began after a Druze merchant was kidnapped, sparking sectarian clashes. Witnesses report looting, sniper attacks, and hospitals under fire. Israel struck several military targets, claiming Syria attacked Druze civilians. Syrian officials say civilians were killed in the strikes. Meanwhile, humanitarian conditions in Suweida are worsening, with water, medicine, and safety in short supply. Israel warns its campaign will continue until Syrian forces leave the region.
