GAZA STRIP: Residents report that Israeli forces are increasing their attacks on the outskirts of Gaza City as the military prepares for a ground offensive to take control of the area. Hospitals have stated that over 30 Palestinians, including women and children, have died in Israeli strikes, mainly in the northern and western parts of the city. The chief of staff of the Israeli military promised to “keep hitting Hamas’s key targets until they are defeated” and to ensure the safe return of hostages. According to the UN and aid organizations, these Israeli operations are already causing “terrible humanitarian effects” for families displaced and seeking shelter in a city that is home to one million people, where famine was declared last month.
