Iran’s government and central bank claim the steep currency decline is driven by political uncertainty rather than economic weakness. France, Germany, and the UK the remaining European parties to the 2015 nuclear deal have given Iran a one-month deadline to resume talks with the US, allow UN inspections, and account for enriched uranium stockpiles. These steps could postpone the automatic reinstatement of UN sanctions. Iran, however, insists these conditions should be negotiated outcomes, not preconditions. Meanwhile, hardline lawmakers in Tehran are drafting legislation to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and end cooperation with the IAEA if sanctions return, raising tensions over the future of the nuclear deal.
Abba Father, we ask that wisdom and humility guide leaders in Iran and the nations involved, so that peace and stability may prevail over conflict. Lord let truth shine in every negotiation. May hidden agendas be exposed and righteous decisions bring stability to the region. In Jesus’ name. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 37:28).
Lord, we pray for the Iranian people suffering under economic and political turmoil. Provide them hope, strength, and provision (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 29:11).
