Indonesia: President Prabowo Subianto has publicly stated that Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which was initiated in January 2025, is inspired by Brazil’s National School Meal Program (PNAE). Under his leadership, the Indonesian government plans to provide free, nutritious meals to 83 million individuals, including children, toddlers, pregnant women, and nursing mothers, by the end of this year. Brazil has also offered to assist in collaboration with the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, a G20 initiative that provides financial and scientific support for programs aimed at combating hunger and malnutrition. This alliance employs integrated data systems to avoid program duplication, align needs with available resources, and deliver focused assistance. Lula highlighted that Brazil and Indonesia have shared objectives in addressing poverty and promoting sustainability.

  • Lord, we pray that the Free Nutritious Meals program will successfully provide for the nutritional needs of children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers in Indonesia, leading to improved health and well-being (The Holy Bible, Philippians 4:19).
  • Lord, we pray for a fruitful collaboration between Brazil and Indonesia, that their partnership through the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty will lead to effective strategies and enduring solutions to combat hunger and malnutrition (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 15:22).
