Yemen’s Houthi rebels attacked a Dutch-flagged cargo ship called the Minervagracht in the Gulf of Aden, setting it on fire and forcing the crew to abandon it. Two crew members were injured, and the others were rescued by helicopter. This attack is one of the Houthis’ broader campaigns in conjunction with the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, where they have struck numerous ships, even though the targeted vessels are not directly connected to Israel. The Houthis have not been credited for this latest strike but have been attributed the attack by a French military center. Their attacks have disrupted key shipping routes in the Red Sea that deal with commodities worth approximately one trillion dollars annually. The Houthis had suspended attacks for a short while during a ceasefire but resumed intense airstrikes. This attack is the most severe recent attack in the Gulf of Aden, expanding the scope within which the rebels are active and escalating tensions in the region.

Pray for the international authorities to take immediate action to end the attacks on ships by Yemen’s Houthis in the Red Sea. Pray for enhanced maritime safety in the region. (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 24:6).

Pray for the LORD to thwart all the plans and the strongholds of the Houthis rebels in Yemen. Pray for the LORD’s intervention to end terrorism in the nation and in the region (The Holy Bible, Job 5:12).
