In March 2025, rising violence in the coastal areas of Syria, including Lattakia, plunged children such as 11-year-old Jana into uncertainty and fear. Schools were shut, and families were displaced, taking away the sense of routine and security from children. As a response, UNICEF and its partners quickly mobilized psychosocial support sessions, giving children recreational activities, explosive ordnance risk education, and expert care for children exhibiting signs of extreme distress. These treatments provided a secure setting for the children to heal, experience happiness, and regain a sense of normalcy. Jana, one who went through these sessions, reported feelings of safety and happiness, telling of her dream to become a pilot and visit Dubai’s amusement park. Such programs play an important role in assisting traumatized children in recovering and perceiving a positive future.

Prayer:

LORD, we stand in the gap for all the children in Syria. We plead for Your divine intervention in the country for the little souls to have access to education and other basic needs. LORD, equip them and use them for Your Glory, Father (The Holy Bible, Psalm 127:4).

Pray for the LORD’s healing and comfort for the Syrian children traumatized by the war, fear, and uncertainty. Pray for the LORD to bless these souls with hope and a bright future (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 29:11)
