Tropical storm Wutip has caused heavy rain and flash floods in 54 villages in Khongxedon district, Saravan province, Laos, starting from June 13. The floods have damaged houses, farmland, schools, and roads, making travel difficult. Luckily, no injuries or deaths have been reported so far. Authorities are helping to move people, animals, and vehicles to safe areas. They are also keeping a close watch on villages near the Xedon River, which is rising fast. The river reached 13.05 meters on June 14, which is above the warning level of 12.30 meters and close to the danger level of 13.30 meters. In Champassak and Attapeu provinces, river levels are also above safe limits. The government has prepared rescue boats, life jackets, food, drinking water, and other supplies. They have also started 24-hour patrols to help people and control the situation. Officials continue to monitor the flood risk closely.
