EGYPT: Egypt has become a refuge for those escaping conflicts in neighboring countries in recent years, and it now hosts the largest number of Sudanese refugees fleeing the intense conflict in their homeland. This nearly two-year-long war has led to what the United Nations calls the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. The UN estimates that around 13 million people have been displaced, either within Sudan or to other countries, with more than 3.5 million seeking safety in nearby nations such as Egypt, Chad, and South Sudan. The recent surge in Sudanese refugees has significantly increased the Sudanese population in Egypt, with government officials estimating that there are now about 5.5 million Sudanese living in the country. This development reflects the “cooperation and close fraternal relations” between Egypt and Sudan, according to the Egyptian National Railways Authority.

  • Lord, we pray that God’s presence bring hope and healing to the land, enabling displaced individuals to return home safely when the time is right (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:13).
  • Lord, we pray for the safety and well-being of the Sudanese refugees in Egypt. May they receive the necessary support and resources to rebuild their lives amidst the challenges they face. May the communities around them extend compassion and hospitality, providing the love and care that every displaced person needs (The Holy Bible, Leviticus 19:33).
