Sayema Haque Bidisha from the University of Dhaka said that although gender gaps in education have narrowed, women still face significant challenges in the labor market. Educated women often struggle to find jobs that match their qualifications because suitable opportunities are limited and social constraints such as safety, commuting, rigid working hours, and lack of childcare restrict their choices. Women also remain underrepresented in leadership roles, holding only a small percentage of managerial positions. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party has proposed measures in its manifesto to improve women’s employment, including expanding job opportunities, establishing childcare centers at workplaces, and supporting women entrepreneurs with loans and tax benefits. Experts such as Rizwanul Islam note that factors like labor market segmentation, limited opportunities in preferred sectors, and differences between rural and urban employment also contribute to higher unemployment among educated women.

Abba Father, help create fair opportunities for women so their talents and education can be used to benefit families and society. Amen (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:16).

Lord, empower women with wisdom, courage and confidence to take leadership roles and influence their communities for good. Amen The Holy Bible, Proverbs 16:3)
